About the Compaign
The “Build a School, Build a Future” campaign by Tazei Foundation is a transformative initiative rooted in the belief that education is not just about academics — it is about nurturing righteous, compassionate, and capable human beings. In the remote tribal villages of Manipur, where most government schools are non-functional and many private schools prioritize rote learning over real understanding, children are often left behind in unsafe buildings or outside the classroom altogether.
This campaign envisions building a model campus for Tazei Public School, a values-based, skill-oriented, and community-rooted institution that offers more than infrastructure — it offers dignity, purpose, and opportunity. The new campus will include:
- Safe, well-ventilated classrooms that encourage joyful learning
- Clean, gender-sensitive toilets and access to safe drinking water
- Solar-powered lighting to ensure a sustainable and reliable environment
- A library and resource hub to foster critical thinking and creativity
- A learning garden to reconnect children with nature and stewardship
- Dedicated spaces for vocational training and career exploration
At Tazei, children begin each week with reflections on ethics and values — not as an add-on, but as the foundation of who they are becoming. Why Tazei?
In the remote hill villages of Manipur and Northeast India, access to quality and meaningful education remains a significant challenge. While government schools are present in many areas, they often face systemic issues such as inadequate infrastructure, teacher shortages, and irregular functioning. At the same time, a growing number of private schools operate with limited oversight, and are often guided more by individual motivations than a clear educational mission leading to an overemphasis on rote learning with limited relevance to students’ lives or futures.
Tazei Public School was established in response to this urgent need not to replace, but to strengthen and support the existing educational ecosystem.

Tazei is envisioned as a model and resource centre — one that demonstrates what inclusive, values-driven, and context-sensitive education can look like in the most underserved parts of the region. It serves as a living example for rural government and private schools to adapt and evolve.

Our Impact
Over 2,000 rural students have already experienced the Tazei approach to education one rooted in hands on learning, local relevance, and character development. Tazei has actively supported and strengthened three government schools across Noney and Tamenglong districts, while also inspiring positive shifts in several private schools through its model practices, teacher mentoring, and community engagement. Together, these efforts are laying the foundation for a more inclusive, meaningful, and transformative rural education movement in Manipur and Northeast India.
